Python maintained its rank in the list of the most versatile programming language of 2020 and it is for several reasons.

  • Easy to code:
    Python is a high-level programming language. Python is very easy to learn the language as compared to other languages like C, C#, Javascript, Java, etc. It is very easy to code in python language and anybody can learn python basics in a few hours or days. It is also a developer-friendly language.
  • Object-Oriented Language :
    One of the key features of python is Object-Oriented programming. Python supports object-oriented language and concepts of classes, objects encapsulation, and others.
  • High-Level Language :
    Python is a high-level language. When we write programs in python, we do not need to remember the system architecture, nor do we need to manage the memory.
  • Extensible Feature :
    Python is a extensible language. We can write us some Python code into C or C++ language and also we can compile that code in C/C++ language.
  •  Large Standard Library :
    Python has a large standard library which provides a rich set of module and functions so you do not have to write your own code for every single thing. There are many libraries present in python for such as regular expressions, unit-testing, web browsers, and others.

Python is a high-level, interpreted, interactive and object-oriented scripting language. Python is designed to be highly readable. It uses English keywords frequently whereas the other languages use punctuations. It has fewer syntactical constructions than other languages.

Python was developed by Guido van Rossum in the late eighties and early nineties at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science in the Netherlands. 

Python is derived from many other languages, including ABC, Modula-3, C, C++, Algol-68, SmallTalk, and Unix shell and other scripting languages. 

Python is copyrighted. Like Perl, Python source code is now available under the GNU General Public License (GPL). 

Python is now maintained by a core development team at the institute, although Guido van Rossum still holds a vital role in directing its progress.

 Python 1.0 was released in November 1994. In 2000, Python 2.0 was released. Python 2.7.11 is the latest edition of Python 2. 

Meanwhile, Python 3.0 was released in 2008. Python 3 is not backward compatible with Python 2. The emphasis in Python 3 had been on the removal of duplicate programming constructs and modules so that “There should be one — and preferably only one — obvious way to do it.” Python 3.5.1 is the latest version of Python 3.

Python is widely regarded as a programming language that’s easy to learn, due to its simple syntax, a large library of standards and toolkits, and integration with other popular programming languages such as C and C++. In fact, it’s the first language that students learn in the Align program, Gorton says. “You can cover a lot of computer science concepts quickly, and it’s relatively easy to build on.” It is a popular programming language, especially among start-ups, and therefore Python skills are in high demand.
